The WCAMS Summer Music Camp is hosted at Brentwood College School, a private boarding school on Vancouver Island, a one hour drive from Nanaimo or the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, and 45 minutes from Victoria.
The 90-acre campus is situated on over 1km of pristine ocean coastline facing the Gulf Islands and has stunning views of a snow-capped Mount Baker. The beautifully landscaped property surrounds modern buildings, accessible with sloped sidewalks throughout. The large, state-of-the-art classrooms, an abundance of upright and grand pianos, and a 430-seat, 2-level auditorium lends the campus to an ideal location for a week of music-making.
Please note that Brentwood is a non-smoking campus.
Participants will be accommodated in one of four residence buildings. All dorm rooms are configured as shared occupancy (2 people), however, WCAMS will offer a limited number of these rooms as single occupancy rooms.
Individual dorm rooms do not lock, however the dorm buildings will be locked during the night. The top drawers of the desks in each room are lockable with a padlock (supply your own), where you can keep your valuables. There is 24/7 security on the campus, and the isolated location of the campus means there has never been an issue with security.
All washrooms are communal hall washrooms, with 3-5 sinks/toilets/showers serving 4-8 rooms.
Bedding and towels are supplied.
For those who prefer more private accommodation, there are several alternatives for off-campus living. Please refer to the document below for suggestions:
Students aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult participant who will be responsible for their supervision except during classes. Older students may attend unaccompanied, but no supervision will be provided for them outside of classes.
Day camper rates include all meals and snacks, tuition and admission to concerts.
The West Coast Amateur Musicians Society, the West Coast Summer Music Camp and Brentwood College School accept no responsibility for illness, injury, death, or loss of or damage to personal property during the camp.
